We also join forces with local land trusts, nonprofits, and ferry services to provide additional events throughout the summer season. Eagle Island Light Open House
August 16, 2026 | 12 – 4 pm
Celebrate summer, gather with fellow community members, climb the classic wrought iron staircase, and enjoy unrivaled views of Penobscot Bay. Transportation is available on the Katherine Mailboat ($100 round trip), or come by your own boat, anchor off the lighthouse beach, and follow signs to the top.

Maine Lighthouse Day
September 12, 2026
This popular annual event, which is sponsored by the United States Coast Guard, the Maine Office of Tourism, and the American Lighthouse Foundation, attracts between 15,000 to 18,000 visitors each year and offers the general public the rare opportunity to climb and learn about over two dozen historic Maine lights.
